Individual Therapy
Have you been through a difficult or distressing life event?
Are events from the past still affecting you today?
Are you aware that you need some space to process a previous life experience?
Psychological therapy can help. Therapy can provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your current difficulties. Past life experiences including difficult events, our early life, and our experiences of being parented, all can contribute to our struggles in the present.
Understanding the impact of the past on the here and now can be powerful in terms of not only understanding ourselves, but also being able to begin to bring compassion to our struggles, and to consider what will help us to move forward.
I help with a wide range of difficulties, and I have a special clinical interest and expertise in working with trauma. I predominantly use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to treat trauma. EMDR is an evidence-based approach, meaning that there is research that demonstrates EMDR is effective in treating trauma. It can be especially helpful for people who are not able to or do not want to describe their trauma in detail. EMDR is also effective for other difficulties such as anxiety, phobias and grief.
